Building a spring wardrobe with Seamingly Smitten

It sure felt like spring here today in NC, and while the snow and cold may still be lingering where you live, it's time to start thinking about putting together a spring wardrobe. Today Larissa and Denita will be sharing with you the self care sewing projects they did in the past two weeks- both ladies put together an entire spring wardrobe featuring Seamingly Smitten Patterns and you can too! Hi! It’s Denita! For my Seamingly Smitten Spring Wardrobe, I chose pieces that added the perfect versatility to Spring for me. I also, liked the idea of using a few patterns to make multiple, interchangeable looks.

• Riverwalk Sundress • Sunny Halter Top • French Market Shorts • Knit Draped Cardigan • Lace Front Knit Shirt • Leggings • Magazine Street Dress • Reversible Fur Vest

As a mama to three little ones comfort is one of the most important things to me. If I can’t move and constantly tug on the clothing then those outfits aren’t going to work well. Riverwalk Sundress is great for a casual office setting. Just pair it with the Knit Draped Cardigan for day and remove the cardigan for an evening out with the hubby. For the Sunny Halter Top, I omitted the elastic at the waist. This allows the top to be worn as a dress also. The French Market Shorts are made in purple plaid woven fabric by sizing up and white jersey knit by using pattern size. Notice the shorts are used for several different looks. One of wonderful things about South Carolina weather is mild temperatures during the day; however, those temps drop at night. You can never have enough cardigans!!! See…made two of them! I omitted the lace from the Lace Front Knit Shirt to showcase the prints on the knits chosen. The Leggings are vegan leather from Girl Charlee….completely out of my comfort zone!! The leather adds the extra oomph needed for a night out on the town! The Magazine Street Dress is wonderful for Main Street Fridays in Greenville, SC! The slit on the right side allows the right amount of movement with still being modest. My favorite piece is the Reversible Fur Vest! I used vegan leather for the “front” and Jennifer Paganelli’s Columns for the “inside”. Great way to transition a pattern from Winter to Spring. All the bright color fabrics reminded me of Spring and Summer! What do you think of my Spring Wardrobe?

Spring for me in California, is not all that different from summer or fall. I wanted pieces I could wear most of the year. I also wanted pieces that would be practical. I picked the skirts because I am always looking for maxi skirts that fit! I am on the shorter side at 5'2, so everything in the stores is usually miles too long! I chose the cowl neck because it is a staple piece that I can throw on over a pair of jeans and grab my flip flops on the way out the door or pair it with skinnies and boots for a dressier look. The Julia is a practical top that works well for chasing the kids at the park! The Carrollton dress is perfect for date night!  I paired it with the draped cardigan as the early evening hours can get a little chilly here. The Magnolia wrap dress I made with Easter in mind. It is comfortable and secure enough to wear during our super busy day running around to find eggs! I think the raglan is a perfect seasonal transition piece! The striped one is a lighter knit, and I can see it being worn even during the summer months. The pink one is a thicker cotton knit, and is so comfortable! I put it on and my toddler told me "I like it"! It will be perfect for cool evenings at the beach and transition well into the fall and winter months! I hope I have inspired you to sew something for yourself for everyday wearing!
