I Had a Favorite Dress Giveaway

Long before I was addicted to sewing I had another obsession- reading. When I was younger, I would stay up all night long with a good book, and sometimes I still do! It is important to me that my children are exposed to good books, so when I ran across I Had a Favorite Dress by Boni Ashburn in the bookstore, I snatched it up and read the entire thing standing in the aisle.

It is the story of a girl who has outgrown her favorite dress, and her seamstress mother takes it and turns the beloved frock into something else just as special. Each time it's outgrown, the girl brings it to her mama for a metamorphosis.  While reading, I waffled between feelings of nostalgia as it brought back memories of my own resourceful seamstress mother, and feelings of accomplishment knowing that I do the same thing for my little girl. Sweet story, gorgeous pictures, and good lessons...I had to have it!

With the holidays coming, I thought I would share this gem with all my sewing mama friends. I know you will love this book too. For Christmas at our house we do the "something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read" gift giving approach, so this will be my daughter's "something to read" this year. You can purchase this book on Amazon and see a sneak peak inside HERE

The author was sweet enough to send me a signed copy to give away here on the blog, so one lucky reader will be winning one this week! Thank you, Boni, for your generosity!
