Hi!  It's Ellen from ellzabelle and I'm so excited to show you the most BEAUTIFUL dress from Sis Boom.  It's the Gabriella Fae dress and my daughter loves it!  I do too.

I've admired Sis Boom's patterns for awhile now and I'm so happy to have sewn one finally!  I was not disappointed at all.

I chose the long sleeve option for winter.  The sleeves have a beautiful gather at the shoulder and at the cuff.  I love the simple and classy non-ruched bodice but will try the ruched bodice next time.  

My favorite part of the pattern was that I only had to print 6 pages for my dress choice!!!  LOVE THAT.  I dread printing a lot of pages and taping.  Carla just gives dimensions for the skirt to cut and I really appreciate that.  The ruched options are a bit more but sleeveless and short sleeve is less.

I used four different fabrics cause I love lots of colors and patterns.  The two main fabrics in the dress are from Stitch Box Monthly.  I bought 3 months from them and loved getting fabrics, patterns and notions in the mail.  They were a surprise and I love them together.  The bodice/sleeve fabric is Bungalow by Joel Dewberry in Dahlia and I used every bit of the yard I received for the skirt so I'm not sure what it was.....but it's beautiful!!!!

My zipper isn't perfect.  But it's not bad.  It's probably my second zipper in an outfit....I've done a doll zipper before.  I think it's supposed to be invisible but I love the turquoise showing!  I'm sure with practice that they'll get better.

I made a size 7 for my petite 7 year old and it's nice and roomy and can be worn for awhile so I think sizing was great.  I love that you can make it long sleeve for fall/winter and I will definitely be making lots of sleeveless and short sleeve ones for summer.


I'm so happy to add this dress to my daughter's wardrobe.  Can't wait to make a lot more for all the seasons!  Happy winter and Bundle Up!

Hi everyone!  I was fortunate to be chosen to sew up the Gabriella Fae from SisBoom for this BundleUP.  This was the first time I have sewn a pattern from SisBoom as well.  Boy, have I been missing out!  

This pattern features so many custom options to be able to make something truly your own.  Not only are there several length options for sleeve and skirt, but also an overlay or non overlay.  I choose the non-overlay option this time because I wanted to use this Valentine fabric from The Fat Quarter Shop.  But I think the overlay will be on my sewing to-do list for an Easter dress.  

She gives you a yardage chart for all of the different combinations to make it easy to pick up exactly what you need at the store. The size range is very generous.  This pattern comes in sizes 12 months to 13/14 years.  I made a size 9 and feel like it fits her very well!

The one new thing that I learned from this pattern was understitching the lining in the bodice.  It really makes a difference!  The neckline lays beautifully because of that extra step.  There are a few notches that need to be transferred to your fabric from the pattern to keep you from having to guess.  Just remember to transfer them. It’s only in a couple of places so it’s not a ton of extra time either.  Adding the waistband to the bodice is pretty straight forward.  There is a bow pattern included and that would be a great place to add some detail.

For the sleeves, I just picked a length on pattern piece.  The nice thing about the sleeve binding is that it’s not too loose or too tight on her. It’s just right!  There is a slight gathering stitch on both ends of the sleeves.  Just mark your fabric according to the marks on the pattern so it’s even.   For the skirt I only had 1 yard of the stripe fabric, so I cut it in half and then followed the directions for the width for size 9.  I also added a white lace trim after I hemmed it.

You will need to sew in a zipper for this dress, but don’t worry!!!  Honestly I wish this had been my first dress with a zipper. I love using my glue stick to hold zippers in place before I sew them.  One of the best sewing helpers out there! So if you are still scared of dresses with zippers...try this one.  I didn’t even use my zipper foot.

It took me 2 kid movies from printing the pattern to last stitch.  Anyone else measure time that way??  I don’t know if that means I’m slow sewing this as it was the first time or because I had a ton of interruptions. Either way, I would make this again.
