Hey! It’s Erica again from Lollipops & Paisley. Spring, and almost summer-like, weather has hit Kentucky! Guess what? My girl has GROWN since last year! Time for more clothes! Modkid has just released the cutest little outfit! Who loves a deal?  ME! How about TWO patterns in ONE?  That’s exactly what you get with the new Susie Halter Top & Shorts. With sizes from 2-12, this pattern covers a great age range too, which to me is a good value.

First, let’s talk about those shorts. One word: POCKETS! What does my 5 year ask for in every pattern? Pockets. She doesn’t care what I’m making her as long as it has pockets. If I don’t add pockets, she may not wear it… These are stitched into the seams for extra security. I personally LOVE the contrast fabric on the pocket edge. My daughter says she loves the BIG pockets! She has declared these her new favorite shorts. I can already see all the treasures that I will find when doing laundry.

An adventurous beginner would be able to follow these instructions for the shorts. The line drawings really come in handy when your computer is across the room. You can easily glance and go, “Oh yeah, that needs to be turned the other way!” (This may or may not have happened.) The waistband is a few more steps than your basic fold and top stitch, but the detailing is so worth it! I love the look of flat front shorts!

That halter… this one is just too cute! If your girl will wear a halter, not all girls do and that’s okay, this pattern is awesome. First, you can use woven OR knit! I love a versatile pattern! The instructions are very easy. It does take a bit more time just for the details on the shirttail and turning and pressing those halter ties, but details are worth it for a garment you will love! I went with Art Gallery fabrics from the Anna Elise line. My girl loves the horses and butterflies! I expect this Susie Halter Top and Shorts outfit to be a staple in her summer wardrobe. Head over to Modkid and check out that amazing price for TWO patterns that summer must haves! Thanks for reading!
