Opal Knit Flutter Tunic Top and Dress by Tie Dye Diva

I'm a sucker for anything girly and when it comes in knit, I'm almost always going to want to sew it up as fast as possible! Today Brianne and Paige are reviewing the Opal Knit Flutter Tunic Top and Dress by Tie Dye Diva and it definitely fits the bill when I want something a little more special than a plain, knit tee.

Brianne here from Ali Cat & Co.

As I was sewing these Opals by Tie Dye Diva, I was squealing with excitement! They are too dadgum cute! Am I right?

Opal is a knit tunic or dress with flutter sleeves.  It comes in 9 sizes:  12-18 months to 9/10 and is only $8.95!

This pattern came together like a breeze.  I was able to cut and sew both of these Opals in less than 3 hours.  With an entire page on how to sew knits, even a virgin knit sewer will have perfect success with Opal. The pattern also includes a knit fabric rose tutorial to add a bit fun to your new dress.

The bodice ruffle is optional but I highly recommend it.  I think the ruffle really makes the dress POP. Don't you wish it came in adult sizes?

I used this amazing horse knit from Girl Charlee with other scrap knits laying around.

Girl Charlee is my go to shop for knits.  They also have specialty woven fabricstwill, denim, and vegan leather now.  All at unbelievably reasonable prices.

For Ali's dress, I used the horse knit for the dress portion and solid purple for the bodice.

For Madeleiene, I did the opposite: horses for the bodice and pink for the tunic but the same light purple dot knit for the ruffle.  I love that they are coordinating but not matching.

I can't express enough how EASY Opal is to sew.  With no buttons or zippers to add, this slip over the head dress is a great option for a brand new sewist.
